Are you looking for a last minute Valentine's gift? With a little crafty energy you can whip up these beautiful shea butter soaps in an afternoon. Plus, since they are made with melt and pour soap base, there's no waiting for the soaps to cure before using or gifting them! View the video for a visual guide as well as the written recipe below! Ingredients: 2 lb Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base Activated Charcoal Powder French Green Clay Powder Dragon's Blood Fragrance Oil Rubbing Alcohol Tools: Wilton Ruffled Hearts Mold Microwave Safe Measuring Cup or Glass Bowl 2 Measuring Cups (Funnel Spout preferred, but optional) Stirring Utensil Graduated Pipette Tablespoon Measure Spray Bottle Knife Cutting Board To begin, chop your soap base into equal sized squares, about 1 inch square. Place your chopped up soap base into your microwave safe container or bowl. Melt your soap base in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring well each time the microwave stops. Remove your melted soap from the microwave and divide into your two measuring cups. To the first half of your base, add 1 tablespoon of activated charcoal powder, stir well. Spritz the mixture with rubbing alcohol to help incorporate the powder more easily. Add 1 tablespoon of French Green Clay to the second half of your soap base and stir well, adding alcohol if needed. Once your powders are well combined, add your fragrance oil to each of your bases according to the manufacturer's specifications. I like to use a graduated pipette for this step so I get exactly the right amount. Again, stir well. Once your powders and fragrance oil are combined in your two measuring cups, prepare your mold. The Wilton silicone molds are pretty easy to use, but to be safe, spritz the inside of the mold with your rubbing alcohol. With a measuring cup in each hand, pour both colors at once into the mold, creating a swirl effect. If your soap seems too thick or stiff to pour, reheat it in the microwave until it is fluid. 2 lb of soap base filled 4 and one half bars of heart shaped soap. Different molds will yield different results. Let your soaps cool a few hours, then carefully unmold them one at a time. You did it! Enjoy your soap right away, or wrap it in cling wrap and add a festive tag to give it as a gift. If you would rather buy this soap instead of making it, click here.
